Furman man Otis "Blackie" Carter reached the bigs after a dynamite 1925 season with the Richmond Colts of the Virginia League, hitting .358, slugging .700 and belting 38 home runs in 129 games. He only played six games at the MLB summit with the New York Giants, hitting .190 with a home run in 21 at bats split between '25 and 1926. He played professionally through to 1940, as a player-coach from 1933 on, with one more home run outburst when he swatted 30 in 94 games for the Leaksville-Draper-Spray Triplets of the Bi-State League in 1935.
