Biographical Information[edit]

Billy Zitzmann had a couple of trials in the majors in 1919, but didn't stick. After years in the minors, he then came back at age 29 to play five seasons with the Cincinnati Reds.

Billy, at age 23 in 1919, got into 11 games with the Pittsburgh Pirates and then two more with the Cincinnati Reds who went on to win the 1919 World Series. He played much of that season with the Jersey City Skeeters. Although the minor league database doesn't show it, a source [1] states he then spent 1920-1924 in the minors.

He came back in 1925 to play outfield for the Reds for five years. The Reds were managed during that time by Jack Hendricks and usually played fairly close to .500 ball.

Billy then played several more seasons in the minors, mostly with the Newark Bears.

Billy managed the Dominion Hawks in the Class D Cape Breton Colliery League for part of the 1937 season
