Biographical Information[edit]
Billy Rhiel hit .340 during nearly a decade in the minors, and came to the majors for four seasons as an infielder-outfielder.
Through 2009 he is the only position player to come to the majors out of Newberry College.
On September 21, 1930, Rhiel turned an unassisted triple play while with the Portland Beavers of the Pacific Coast League.
Minor League Managerial Record: Rhiel spent one season as a minor league manager. He was the skipper for the Class D Warren Redskins, an affiliate of the Cleveland Indians in the Pennsylvania State Association. The team finished in 6th place with a 42-64 record.
