Bill Wingo was a two-time All-Atlantic Coast Conference infielder at Clemson. He was undrafted but signed with the Atlanta Braves as a free agent. He spent one season in the minors, with the 1977 Greenwood Braves, going 5 for 41 with 6 runs, 2 steals, 7 walks and 12 strikeouts. He fielded .982 at second base. His son, Scott Wingo, was a star in the College World Series in 2010-2011.
