Biographical Information[edit]

Bill Van Dyke was the starting left fielder for the 1890 Toledo Maumees in the American Association. After that, he came back for a couple cups of coffee with National League teams.

Toledo did not field a team again in 1891 and many of Toledo's starters were unable to find major league employment in 1891.

His minor league career ran from at least 1884 to 1897.

Van Dyke was remembered in a 2006 article as the first rookie ever to hit for the cycle when Luke Scott became the 23rd rookie to do so.
