Biographical Information[edit]
Bill Price pitched on game for the Philadelphia Athletics of the American Association in 1890. Until 2017, that was all that was known about him, but research by SABR members enabled the discovery of additional information, such as the fact that he was from Chester, PA and had pitched with Houston in 1889. Through dogged research in newspapers from around Philadelphia, researcher Justin McKinney was able to find an item stating that William G. Price, head of leather company in Delaware, had once pitched professionally for Houston around the time our ballplayer would have been there. His obituary a decade later confirmed that he had once been an amateur athlete.
