Biographical Information[edit]

Jeared Wells "Bill" Pounds spent much of his ten-year minor-league career in the New York State League, and came to the majors for a couple games in 1903.

Pounds was with the 1903 Cleveland Naps early in the season for one game, and then was released. It was reported that he signed with the 1903 Highlanders, but he and they could not agree on terms so he did not appear with them. He came to the 1903 Brooklyn Superbas then to appear in one game at the end of June.

The only other major leaguer (through 2019) with a similar name is Brooks Pounders.

Sporting Life referred to him as "Wells Pounds" at least once.

Kevin Reese was born exactly one hundred years later than Bill, on March 11, 1978. Kevin, unlike Bill, did manage to play a few games with the New York American League team.
