Biographical Information[edit]
Bill Ludwig, from Louisville, KY, was the first-string catcher with the St. Louis Cardinals in 1908.
Ludwig was not a strong hitter either in the majors or the minors, but had a professional career that extended from 1901 to 1914, which indicates that he must have been an esteemed defensive backstop.
