Biographical Information[edit]

Bill Knox pitched in the St. Louis Cardinals minor league system from 1954 to 1957. His inaugural season was one for the history books, as he went 20-9 with a 1.80 ERA in 32 games (27 starts), allowing just 185 hits and 67 walks in 240 innings (1.050 WHIP) for the Albany Cardinals. He led the Georgia-Florida League in ERA, but finished tied for second in wins (with Earl Gearhart), behind Whammy Douglas' 27.

He slipped to 10-3, 3.68 in 1955, then was just 9-8, 4.30 in 1956. After making 3 appearances in 1957, Knox's career was over. Overall, he went 39-20 (.661 winning percentage) in 89 games.
