Biographical Information[edit]

Bill Husted pitched one year in the major leagues for the Philadelphia Athletics in 1890, appearing in 18 games and posting a record of 5-10. He was the second-youngest player on the team.

Bill was born in Gloucester, NJ, near Philadelphia. Prior to the major leagues, he had pitched for the Buffalo Bisons and the London Tecumsehs.

In 1891, he signed with the Philadelphia entry in the American Association, and while he made the roster, was released during the regular season without having pitched a game. Another club in the Association wanted him, however he opted instead for the National League's Philadelphia Phillies club until he could not agree with them on salary, and again never appeared in a game for them. Then he pitched briefly in the Western Association and later played amateur and semi-pro ball. Source: Major League Baseball Profiles: 1871-1900.
