Biographical Information

Bill Higdon served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II (BN). He played in the outfield and appeared in 11 games for the 1949 Chicago White Sox, hitting .304 and slugging .435. Luke Appling was the 42-year-old shortstop for the team, hitting .301 and slugging .394.

Higdon had attended Auburn University (the alma mater of Frank Thomas and Bo Jackson) in 1948, at the same time as Willard Nixon was there.

He had a son named Bill.
