Biographical Information[edit]
Bill Hezel was hired by the Los Angeles Angels as their assistant pitching coach in 2023, working with pitching coach Matt Wise.
Hezel played college ball at Lehigh University for two years before transferring to East Stroudsburg University where he graduated in 2010 with a degree in sports management. Over the next several years he worked a full-time job and coached baseball as a side gig. Hezel was an assistant coach at Northampton Community College from 2012-2016. During the summer of 2016 he also served as the pitching coach for the Quakertown Blazers in the Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League. Hezel spent the next two seasons as a DeSales University assistant coach.
In May 2018 Hezel left DeSales and headed west to the Seattle, WA area to work for Driveline Baseball. He started as a Pitching Coordinator and was promoted to Assistant Director of Pitching in early 2020. Hezel received another promotion in September of that year to Director of Pitching, a role he maintained until November 2022. In addition to his work at Driveline, Hezel was a pitching consultant for the Philadelphia Phillies in 2020-2021.
Hezel joined the Los Angeles Angels coaching staff in 2023 as an assistant pitching coach but stayed only for that one season.
