Biographical Information[edit]

Bill Faller was a long-time college coach.

Faller joined the Army Air Corps in World War II. He was shot down over Frankfurt, Germany in 1945 and was a prisoner of war. After being liberated, he was given two Purple Hearts and an Air Medal, discharged as a First Lieutenant. He signed with the Klamath Falls Gems after college and hit .288/?/.441 in 1948, with 9 triples. He tied legendary Ray Perry for 7th in the Far West League with 26 doubles and tied for 8th in the league in triples (with Jimmy Dykes, presumably the son of the former major leaguer). He hit .287/?/.402 for Klamath Falls in 1949.

He taught and coached baseball and football at Yakima Valley Community College, succeeding college teammate and decades-long friend Bobo Brayton as head coach in baseball. He won 664 games, 18 league titles and 11 conference championships and coached the football team to its lone conference championship. He also twice was president of the faculty union then ran the Parker Youth & Sports Foundation, a program to help provide financial aid to youth sports in Yakima Valley.
