Bill Center
Bill Center was a sportswriter for what became the San Diego Union-Tribune starting in 1967. He covered all sports, but made baseball and the San Diego Padres his main task, as the paper's beat writer, starting in 1983. He was president of the Baseball Writers Association of America for a time. In retirement, he served on the Hall of Fame's Veterans Committee.
He is a native of San Diego, CA and attended San Diego State University.
