Biographical Information

Outfielder Bill Causion played in the minor leagues from 1953 to 1961. He spent two years in Open ball and three years at Triple-A (making a AAA All-Star team), but never reached the major leagues. He played in the Pittsburgh Pirates system from 1954 to 1958.

He began his career with 12 home runs and a .306 batting average in 123 games for the Fond du Lac Panthers in 1953, then slashed .326/.424/.535 with 18 home runs, 116 RBI, 19 stolen bases and 123 runs scored for the Dublin Irish in 1954. With the St. Jean Canadians in 1955, he hit .338/.445/.560 with 24 home runs, 94 RBI and 105 runs scored in 130 games to lead the Provincial League in home runs and runs scored. He played 17 games for the Pacific Coast League's Hollywood Stars in 1956, hitting .302/.403/.340, but spent most of the season south of the border in the Mexican League, hitting .319/.402/.434 in 110 games for the Mexico City Tigers; between the clubs, he batted .317 with 6 home runs and 84 RBI. In 1957, back with Hollywood, he hit .301/.368/.447 with 13 home runs and 80 RBI in 152 games. He joined Solly Drake and Lenny Green as the 1957 PCL All-Star outfielders. In that year's Veracruz Winter League (in Mexico), he hit .311 with 15 home runs and 71 RBI for Poza Rica. Between the two clubs, he logged over 850 at-bats, collecting 260 hits with 28 home runs and 151 RBI. He made the PCL's All-Star team that year.

He spent the next three seasons at Triple A, hitting .289/.361/.459 with 16 home runs and 66 RBI in 148 games for the Columbus Jets in 1958. In 1959, he hit .301/.371/.447 with 5 home runs, 37 RBI and 10 steals in 75 games for the Denver Bears and in 1960, his last season stateside, he hit .300/.361/.391 with 3 home runs and 65 RBI in 132 games for the Portland Beavers. He wrapped up his career in the Mexican League in 1961, hitting .407 in 54 at-bats between the Sultanes de Monterrey and Diablos Rojos del Mexico.

One source lists his place of birth as Spark, MD (which apparently is Sparks, MD?). His birthdate has also been listed as August 30, 1932.
