William Bernard Carpenter

Biographical Information[edit]

Bill Carpenter was a major league umpire for four years. He started out in the National League in 1897, then started the 1904 season in the American League, but by the end of June, he was back in the NL. He did not work any games in 1905, but was in the NL for a full season in both 1906 and 1907.

He was the umpire at the center of the Ladies' Day Riot in 1897.
