Biographical Information[edit]
In a 65-year career in broadcasting, Bill Campbell has been the full-time play-by-play announcer for the Philadelphia Phillies, Eagles, and 76ers. He has also been a radio call-in talk show host and a commentator. It is safe to say, he has done it all.
For the Phillies, Campbell worked eight seasons, from 1963 to 1970. Among his partners were Byrum Saam and Richie Ashburn. He also worked Eagles games from 1952 to 1966, and NBA games for the Warriors and Sixers until 1981. He later held down the 10 AM to Noon slot in the early days of 610 WIP in Philadelphia, PA from 1987 to 1991.
Campbell did guest appearances, voice overs, and a weekly commentary on 1060 AM, KYW in Philadelphia. He was awarded the Curt Gowdy Award by the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2005.
