Biographical Information[edit]

The grandfather of Dennis Rasmussen, Bill Brubaker busted out as a big league regular with a .289/.352/.384 line and 102 RBI in 145 games manning the hot corner with the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1936. He also led the senior circuit in strikeouts with 96, which may have played a factor in his never receiving another true full-time shot; though he saw 120 games of action the following year, he was down in all counting stats. He washed out of Pittsburgh's plans in 1940, sold to the St. Louis Cardinals in January 1941. During World War II, he made a 13 game return with the Boston Braves in 1943.
