Biographical Information[edit]
Pitcher Bill Blair played in the Negro Leagues in the 1940s and 1950s for the Indianapolis Clowns, Cincinnati Crescents and Dallas Black Giants, for whom he was a player-manager, among others. Following his career as a player, he ran the Elite News, a newspaper serving the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
He was the youngest African American to serve as a first sergeant in the Army during World War II.
