Betty Wagoner played seven seasons in the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League, primarily as an outfielder but also as a pitcher. With the South Bend Blue Sox in 1950, she hit .296 with 11 doubles and was named an All-Star. She hit .272 in 1951 and .295 in 1953 as the Blue Sox won back-to-back league titles.
