Betty Russell was an outfielder with the Racine Belles of the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League for a single season in 1946.
Russell patrolled the outfield for the 1940 Arizona Ramblers of Phoenix, AZ, the women's fastpitch national champions. AAGPBLer Joanne Winter got her interested in the league and she was soon signed by league president Max Carey.
In her single season, she played in 12 games and had a .143 batting average with four hits in 28 at-bats including a double. She had a single RBI and struck out three times. She drew no walks and scored no runs.
Russell plays basketball, tennis, and volleyball, but here favorite sports are shooting and rodeo. In the offseason she worked at a cattle ranch. She also plays the guitar and harmonica.
