Team History[edit]

The Bethesda Big Train joined the Clark Griffith Collegiate Baseball League in 1999. In 2005 they became a founding member of the Cal Ripken Sr. Collegiate Baseball League. The club plays at Shirley Povich Field in Bethesda, MD.

The Big Train are the flagship franchise of the league and are named after long-time Bethesda resident Walter "Big Train" Johnson. The 2011 team, which finished 33-9, was named Summer Collegiate Team of the Year by Perfect Game.
