Biographical Information[edit]
"Blue, who joined the Pine Bluff club midway through the 1903 season, was considered one of the best and cool headed men on the field. He was liked by the people, and respected by the players." - from a page about the 1904 Pine Bluff Lumbermen, a team which went 73-43, for whom Bert Blue was player-manager [1]
Bert Blue was 30 when he played his one season in the majors. He also played several seasons in the minors, and managed at least once. A Bert Blue was also on the roster for a team in the short-lived United States Baseball League in 1912. [2] Through 2019, the only other big league players with the last name Blue have been Lu and Vida Blue.
