Bernardino Rodríguez
Bernardino Rodríguez was an umpire in the Cuban Winter League and was elected to the Cuban Baseball Hall of Fame in 1997 as part of a very large class of inductees that tried to make up for over a decade of no one having been elected.
He is most remembered for an infamous incident on January 7, 1945, when Roberto Ortiz of Almendares punched him during a game, knocking him out. It is known as the most violent history in the history of the league. He is featured on a 1952 baseball card representing prominent figures in Cuban baseball which states "Experts consider him the best Cuban baseball umpire. He has 14 years of experience in our winter championship and has worked in amateur games during the summers."
