Biographical Information

Ben Ellis played four games for the Philadelphia Phillies in 1896. In the minors, he played in New York, Pennsylvania, and in New England. He managed the Schenectady Frog Alleys to the 1903 New York State League title then guided the Schenectady Electricians for the early part of 1904.

Ellis was born in Lockport, NY in 1870. Ben played a number of years in the Pennsylvania State League before coming to the majors.

Ben Ellis has been with him all of this time, and the two intend to remain there until ordered to report. Ben is also in good health, and the two are enjoying themselves like true sportsmen." - Sporting Life, February 17, 1900
