Biographical Information[edit]

First baseman Ben Paulsen began playing in the Colorado Rockies system in 2009. He was drafted by the club in the 3rd round of the 2009 amateur draft, one spot ahead of Wil Myers, and was signed by scout Jay Matthews.

The outfielder hit .311/.353/.474 with 12 home runs and 83 RBI in 130 games for the Modesto Nuts in his second professional season, 2010, and in 2013 - his first year at Triple-A - hit .292/.345/.523 with 18 home runs and 79 RBI in 123 games for the Colorado Springs Sky Sox. He debuted in the majors in 2014 and played until 2016, serving at the Colorado Rockies primary first baseman in 2015. He joined the majors with a bang, hitting .317/.348/.571 with a .920 OPS and a 138 OPS+ in 63 at-bats his first year. For his big league career, he batted .271/.316/.446 with 16 home runs and 70 RBI in 186 games.

He continued in the minor leagues through 2017, jumping from the Rockies system to the Minnesota Twins system for his final year. He was a solid Triple-A performer, hitting .283/.349/.494 with 50 home runs and 222 RBI in 376 games over five campaigns there.
