Biographical Information[edit]
Pitcher Ben Fritz was selected by the Oakland Athletics in the first round of the 2002 amateur draft.
Fritz became a coach with the AZL Padres in 2015 and a manager for the Tri-City Dust Devils in 2016-2017. He was the San Diego Padres' rehabilitation coordinator at the Arizona complex in 2018-2019. In 2020, he was named bullpen coach with the major league team, and on August 23, 2021, replaced the fired Larry Rothschild as pitching coach, but only for the remainder of the year, after which he resumed his duties as bullpen coach. In 2023, he was the bench coach with the Padres, although there was also associate manager - Ryan Christenson.
