Biographical Information[edit]

Ben DeMott . . . played briefly for Cleveland and had a locker right next to (Joe Jackson). - from the book Shoeless Joe and Ragtime Baseball

Ben DeMott was in the majors in 1910 and 1911.

Later, in 1913, he went 13-5 for New Haven.

As for Jackson, DeMott said he was not stupid, rather Jackson was just not formally educated.

Sporting Life several times referred to DeMott as the college pitcher, the star Lafayette College pitcher, or the Lafayette College wonder.
