Biographical Information[edit]

Bernard "Barney" McFadden is listed as being at Villanova University between 1893 and 1900. He came to the majors in April with the Cincinnati Reds in 1901, without apparently having played any minor league ball. He appeared in eight games for manager Bid McPhee. Barney was five years older than teammate Sam Crawford. In the following year, 1902, Barney pitched one game (nine innings) with the Philadelphia Phillies. In both 1901 and 1902, he spent some time with the St. Joseph Saints.
