Baltimore Grays
The Baltimore Grays were a minor black team of the 1940s. In 1942, they were part of the Negro Major Baseball League and were led by player-manager Bill Casey. They had operated before 1942 as the Edgewater Giants or Sparrows Point Giants, a Baltimore-area semi-pro team playing home games in Baltimore's Edgewater Park. When the NML was first announced in early 1942, the team was referred to as the Baltimore Black Orioles, but was rechristened as "Grays" before the season began.
