This page really needs filling out. We are going about things in an ad hoc manner, and maybe we should start laying down the standards in writing. What I wrote seems to me to be either things we aleady do, or things that seems to be common sense. --Shawn 00:22, 27 Dec 2005 (EST)

What would be nice would be a standard layout for an article and instructions on the syntax of the wiki. We are all using our own style, which will eventually lend confusion to the User. --Ron 11:26, 7 Apr 2006 (EDT)

I think the logical style for a player page would be to have the demographic information at the top (with a picture, if available), then a biography going in chronological order of events, then any other details (ex. comments on clothes worn, style of speech, career statistics, quirks). This would make sense to me. The worst is when someone adds on a whole shpiel which duplicates some of what is already there or does not flow naturally (ex. Stan Musial or Bob Repass). - --Mischa 12:06, 7 Apr 2006 (EDT)

Well, I cleaned up the Repass article. Maybe I'll tackle the Musial later. Lotso f others are just "facts thrown together" instead of a smoothly flowing chronological narrative (sp?) though. - --Mischa 17:53, 7 Apr 2006 (EDT)

I think that it's better to have more facts than fewer, even if those facts aren't well organized. It's a lot easier to turn a bunch of facts into an article than it is to find those facts in the first place.

That said, I'd like to propose that we come up with a few basic categories that could go into anyone's page. Those categories would be something like:

  1. Basic information and picture
  2. Biography
  3. Notable Achievements
  4. Records
  5. Quotes
    1. Quotes by this person
    2. Quotes about this person
  6. Bibliography
  7. Related Sites

I've come up with a Player template so that the "Basic information and picture" can be put in a standard format. Here's an example for Jackie Robinson: {{{1}}} {{country data {{{2}}} | country flagicon2 | variant = | size = }} {{{3}}}
