Biographical Information[edit]
Atsushi Kittaka has been a long-time umpire.
Kittaka was signed by the Hanshin Tigers as a catcher out of high school, but never made the Central League, spending three years in the Japanese minors. After retiring as a player, he became a CL umpire in 1987. In 1998, Balvino Galvez threw a ball at him, causing Galvez to be suspended the rest of the year. Kittaka worked the 1993 NPB All-Star Game, 1999 Japan Series, 2001 NPB All-Star Game, 2003 Japan Series, 2004 NPB All-Star Game, 2004 Japan Series, 2007 Japan Series, 2011 NPB All-Star Game, 2011 Japan Series, 2014 Japan Series, 2015 Premier 12 and 2016 NPB All-Star Game.
