Biographical Information[edit]

Atsushi Kinugawa played three seasons in Nippon Pro Baseball.

After college, Kinugawa played for Showa Concrete and Sumitomo Kinzoku Kashima in the industrial leagues. The Yakult Swallows took him in the 4th round of the 2006 NPB draft. He got into his first game in NPB May 13, 2008, starting at catcher. He went 0 for 2 with a walk against Kenta Asakura and Takashi Ogasawara. A day later, he had his first hit, off Masahiro Yamamoto, and on the 16th, he hit a 3-run homer off Yuya Ando for his first NPB homer. He hit .262/.326/.333 in 17 games that year for Yakult, fielding .975 at C.

In 2009, he was 1 for 4 with a RBI for the Swallows, then batted .227/.292/.545 in 13 games in 2010. After hitting .193 in the minors and not appearing for Yakult's top club in 2011, he ended his career. He had hit .250/.311/.397 with 14 RBI and 4 runs in 74 plate appearances over 35 games. He fielded .962.
