Athletic Park (Wausau)

From BR Bullpen

Athletic Park is a stadium in Wausau, WI built in 1936 as a public works project financed by the Works Project Administration, although the park itself has been the site for baseball since 1912. Its main distinguishing feature is a red granite wall that encloses the ballpark, and that has been preserved in large parks through various renovations. Because it was built so long ago, its orientation is not optimal, as the setting sun can disturb both the batter and the home plate umpire.

It holds 3,850 fans. It has been home to the Wausau Lumberjacks (1936-1939, 1946-1949, 1956-1957), Wausau Timberjacks (1940-1942, 1950-1953), Wausau Mets (1975-1978) and Wausau Timbers (1979-1990). It currently hosts the Wisconsin Woodchucks of the summer collegiate Northwoods League.
