The Asahi Shimbun is a national newspaper in Japan, founded in 1879. It has the second highest daily circulation ion the world, after its rival Yomiuri Shimbun. The paper has organized the National High School Baseball Championship since 1915. Takeo Akuta wrote for the Asahi Shimbun.
