Biographical Information[edit]
Second baseman/outfielder Art Bartelli played in the minor leagues from 1935 to 1940. The slugger hit 18 home runs in 129 games for the Rayne Rice Birds his first year, then hit .340/.450/.605 with 34 home runs, 137 RBI, 138 runs scored and 102 walks for Rayne in 1936. Between two clubs in 1937, he hit .311 with 17 home runs, 50 RBI and a .653 slugging percentage, then he hit at least 20 home runs between two clubs in 1938. In 1939, he hit .302/.385/.517 with 26 home runs and 95 RBI in 142 games for the Anniston Rams. He hit 9 home runs his final campaign in 1940. Overall, he hit at least 124 home runs in six seasons.
He also managed the Vicksburg Hill Billies in 1937, replacing Ray Brubaker and being replaced by Alfred Libby, and Rayne in 1940, leading them to a 37-95 record.
