Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Arnold Heft played in the minor leagues from 1938 to 1939 and from 1941 to 1942.

He made his debut with the Baltimore Orioles, going 0-2 with a 5.81 ERA in 11 games in 1938. In '39, he was 7-9 between the Durham Bulls and Portsmouth Cubs. In 1941, he was 22-14 with a 2.42 ERA in 42 games, allowing only 205 hits in 283 innings for the Owensboro Oilers in the Boston Red Sox system. He also was briefly with the Scranton Red Sox that year. He was third in the KITTY League in wins, behind Carl Gaiser and Jesse Webb. He split 1942 between the Evansville Bees (2 G), Wilmington Blue Rocks (1-0 in 11 G) and Scranton.

All told, he was at least 30-25 in 101 games.

He later became an NBA referee and co-owner of the Baltimore Bullets basketball team in the 1960s.
