Biographical Information[edit]

Armando Quijada was on the Mexican national team in the 1975 Pan American Games, going 1-1. [1] He threw a no-hitter against Spain in an exhibition in 1976 and was with Mexico for the 1976 Amateur World Series. [2] He was 1-0 with a 1.15 in the 1978 Amateur World Series, striking out 16 against Belgium, and leading Mexico in ERA (.14 ahead of Marco Meza). [3]

He was 0-2 with a 5.76 ERA for the 1979 Azules de Coatzacoalcos in his pro debut and threw two shutout innings the next year. He had a 2-4, 3.38 record in 1983 then finished up with the 1984 Cafeteros de Córdoba, going 1-0 with a 4.62 ERA. He had been 3-6 with a 4.34 ERA in 27 Mexican League games (8 starts), throwing one shutout. [4] In 2000, he was inducted into the Sonoran Sports Hall of Fame. [5] Articles from 2018 mention him still being alive whereas those from 2023 mention him as having passed away, but his date of death has not been found by this researcher.
