Biographical Information[edit]

Anwar Samudio has pitched for the Panamanian national team and for Chiriqui Occidente in Panama. In the 2008 Americas Baseball Cup, Samudio was 1-0 with a 1.42 ERA in four games, with 15 hits, 6 walks and 9 whiffs in 12 2/3 IP. He closed out losses to the Netherlands Antilles (2/3 IP, 0 R), Venezuela (0 R in 2 IP) and Puerto Rico (2 R in 3 IP). He then went the distance in a seven-inning mercy rule shutout of Aruba, surviving eight hits while fanning four. For the event, he led Panama in ERA (Rodrigo Tello was second at 3.09) and tied Miguel Gómez for the most games pitched on the staff. He also helped Panama win a Gold at the 2009 Bolivarian Games.
