Biographical Information[edit]

Catcher Anthony Turco peaked at AA and later became a scout. His father Paul Turco and brother Paul Turco Jr. both were scouts as well.

The San Francisco Giants picked Anthony in the 19th round of the 1999 amateur draft. He split 2000 between the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes (6 for 12, 2B) and San Jose Giants (.167/.225/.194 in 28 G). He hit .244/.337/.349 for the 2001 Volcanoes. In 2002, he appeared for the AZL Giants (4 for 11, 2B, 3B, 4 BB), Salem-Keizer (5 for 38, 3 BB) and the Hagerstown Suns (.311/.392/.378 in 15 G). He ended up his playing career in 2003 with San Jose (.193/.233/.211 in 24 G) and the Norwich Navigators (0 for 1).

Overall, Turco had batted .227/.303/.286 with 34 runs, 32 RBI, 34 walks, 3 home runs and 88 strikeouts in 363 plate appearances over 133 games. He fielded .979 in 114 games at catcher, with 28 passed balls and he threw out 29% of opponent base-stealers.

He later was a Boston Red Sox scout, signing Brian Johnson and Casey Kelly.
