Biographical Information[edit]
Anthony Massimino is a former Olympic pitcher.
Massimino debuted in the Serie A1 with Parma in 2001, going 3-3 with a 7.78 ERA and .331 opponent average. After not pitching in '02, he was 3-4 with a 4.77 ERA in 2003. In the 2003 Baseball World Cup, he allowed one run in 6 2/3 IP as a fine hurler for the Italian national team. He had his best season in 2004, going 7-3 with a 3.19 ERA and allowing an opponent line of .257/.326/.341. He was chosen for Italy's team in the 2004 Olympics. In the Athens Games, he gave up nine hits and nine runs (7 earned runs) in 5 2/3 innings. He took the loss against Japan. Only William Lucena and Fabio Milano had worse ERAs for the Azzurri.
