Fabio Milano is a former Olympic pitcher who has been one of Italy's top relievers in the first decade of the 21st Century.

Milano began his professional career in 2001 with Italy's Bologna club, going 3-0 with 4 saves and a 2.21 ERA. He struck out 6 in 2 2/3 shutout innings for Italy in the 2001 European Championship. He allowed one run in 3 1/3 IP in the 2001 Baseball World Cup and got a save for the Italians.

In 2002, Fabio was 4-4 with a save and a 5.05 ERA for Bologna. He bounced back in 2003 to go 3-1 with 7 saves and a 1.21 ERA, striking out 72 in 52 innings and with a WHIP under 1. He tossed 8 2/3 innings for Italy in the 2003 European Championship, allowing just one run (unearned) but losing his lone decision.

Milano was better yet in 2004. He gave up just 2 runs and 21 hits in 40 2/3 IP for Bologna, with a 0.44 ERA; he fanned 58. He was 3-0 with 8 saves. He was with Italy for the 2004 Olympics, where he was less effective with 8 hits and 5 runs in 3 innings; only William Lucena had a worse ERA for the Italian squad. Fabio also struggled in the postseason, with 5 runs in 7 1/3 IP.

Milano only pitched 2 innings in the regular season for Milano in 2005, allowing one run, but unlike '04, he was at his best for the end stage. He tossed 6 1/3 shutout innings in the final with one save.

The left-hander from Rhode Island was with Italy for the 2006 World Baseball Classic but did not pitch in a game. In the 2006 Italian season, he was 4-0 with 9 saves and a 1.14 ERA. He was second in the circuit in saves.

In 2007, Fabio was 1-1 with five saves and a 1.71 ERA for Bologna. He pitched in the 2007 European Championship, throwing 3 1/3 shutout innings and fanning five in outings against Great Britain and the Czech Republic. Milano went 2-2 with four saves and a 2.25 ERA in the 2008 Italian Baseball League.

Milano tossed 3 1/3 shutout innings and had a save in the 2009 European Cup. In the 2009 campaign, he was 3-0 with six saves and a 2.25 ERA.
