Biographical Information[edit]

Anthony Lerew was drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the 11th round of the 2001 amateur draft. He was signed by scout J.J. Picollo and made his pro debut that summer.

Lerew has had to deal with injury early in his career. Dr. James Andrews performed elbow surgery and he worked his way back to the Braves, but failed to secure a regular spot on the team's pitching staff. He came back to become a member of the Kansas City Royals starting rotation in 2010. Lerew signed with the Softbank Hawks for 2011. After a month in the minors, he debuted with the big club on May 5th, facing the minimum three batters in a scoreless 9th during a 4-0 loss for the club.
