Biographical Information[edit]

Anthony Haase pitched in the Texas Rangers system in 2010 and 2011.

He was originally drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 38th round of the 2008 amateur draft, but opted not to sign out of high school. He did sign after the Rangers took him in the 17th round of the 2010 amateur draft. The scout was Andy Pratt. In his two years at Cochise College, he had gone 16-7 with 164 strikeouts and a 2.03 ERA in 155 innings and was Co-Arizona Community College Conference Player of the Year.

With the AZL Rangers in 2010, Haase was 4-0 with a 4.98 ERA, striking out 28 batters in 21 1/3 innings. He was 0-1 with a 8.31 ERA in 4 1/3 innings in 2011.

He was killed in a single-vehicle car accident while responding to a call as a police officer at only 24 years old.
