Anthony García hit .222/.300/.222 with five runs and six RBI in 11 games for the Puerto Rican national team in the 1988 Baseball World Cup, fielding .958 with one assist as their starting right fielder. He batted .467/~.500/.533 with two runs and one RBI in five games for Puerto Rico when they finished third in the 1988 Olympics; baseball was not a medal event that year so there was no Bronze for him. He was fifth in the Olympics in average that year, trailing only Greg Duce, Terushi Nakajima, Ted Wood and Tino Martinez. He also played for Puerto Rico in the 1990 Goodwill Games.
