Biographical Information[edit]

Anthony Claggett was drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the 11th round in 2005 and signed by scout Tim McWilliam. His debut in the major leagues came with the New York Yankees, on April 18, 2009, It was a day to remember... for the wrong reasons. He came on in relief in the 2nd inning when starter Chien-Ming Wang was chased after pitching 1 1/3 innings. He closed out the inning, but not before the Cleveland Indians scored 14 runs (8 charged to Wang, and 6 to Claggett), the most ever given up by the Yankees in a single inning. Claggett gave up two more runs in the 3rd before leaving the game with a 43.20 ERA; the Yankees lost, 22-4. He was claimed on waivers by the Pittsburgh Pirates in September, making one appearance to pair with his two for the Yankees for the sum of his career. In 3 2/3 innings, Claggett's ERA was 27.00.

Claggett was an assistant coach for San Jose State University in 2017 and New Mexico State University in 2018-2019. He became an assistant at Washington State University in 2020.
