Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Anthony Bender made his major league debut with the Miami Marlins in 2021, going 3-2, 2.79 in 60 games with 3 saves. In 2022, he was 1-3, 3.26 in 22 games, with 6 saves, when his season ended prematurely in mid-August, after he had missed two full months from late May to early August with back stiffness. However, the second injury was a more serious one, as he had to undergo Tommy John surgery on his right elbow. He was already the fifth Marlins pitcher to require the operation that season, following Max Meyer, Cody Poteet, Sean Guenther and Paul Campbell.
