Biographical Information[edit]
Angelo Palazetti pitched one season in Italy after his collegiate career ended. He was 8-3 with a 1.82 ERA and 112 K in 94 IP for the 2001 Nettuno club. In the 2001 Italian Series, he was 1-1 with a 0.61 ERA as his team topped Rimini for the title. He tied Otis Green for 7th in K and was second in ERA (.23 behind Yoshimune Wakita). [1] He pitched for the Italian national team that won Bronze in the 2001 European Championship, allowing one unearned run in six innings and beating Karl Knutsson and Sweden. He was one of five hurlers with a 0.00 ERA; the others were Michael Leys, Petr Pacas, Dave Eyckholt, Michael Marchesano and Jeroen Deken. [2] During the 2001 Baseball World Cup, he was 0-2 with a 8.10 ERA and only Riccardo De Santis had a higher ERA for the Azzurri. Only Darryn Smith had more losses in the Cup. His defeats came at the hands of South Korea's Kyu-soo Cho and the USA's Jason Phillips. [3]
