Biographical Information[edit]

Angel Sanchez is a pitcher who made his major league debut in 2017.

First signed by Los Angeles Dodgers scout Ezequiel Sepulveda, his first season in professional baseball was with the Great Lakes Loons of the Midwest League in 2011, when he went 8-4, 2.82 in 20 games. He pitched 99 innings, struck out 84 and walked 39. Opponents hit just .198 against him. In 2012, he moved to the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes of the California League, where his record was 6-12, 6.58 in 27 games. He gave up 157 hits in 130 innings, but did strike out 103 while walking 51. He finished among the league leaders in several negative categories: losses (tied for second), runs allowed (106, tied for third with Daniel Renken), earned runs allowed (95, 2nd) and homers allowed (26, tied for second). He led Dodgers farmhands in all four of those departments.

After that poor performance, he went back to Great Lakes to start 2013, and was 2-7, 4.88 in 14 starts; he struck out 70 in 72 innings and walked only 28. He went back to Rancho Cucamonga at the end of June but appeared in only 2 games before he was traded to the Miami Marlins on July 6th, one of three young pitchers - the others were Josh Wall and Steve Ames - to head to South Florida in return for veteran Ricky Nolasco.
