Biographical Information[edit]
Angel Cruz was a long-time pitcher in Puerto Rico's top amateur league. He was 69-29 in his first 21 seasons and won Pitcher of the Year in 1998 and 1999. He helped his team win titles in 1997, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2008, 2009 and 2012. The first five titles came with San Lorenzo, the last three with Cidra.
Cruz pitched for Puerto Rico in the 1995 Intercontinental Cup, allowing no runs in 2 1/3 IP (3 H, 1 BB, 1 K). He helped the Puerto Rican national team win Gold at the 2002 Central American and Caribbean Games, only their second baseball Gold in the Central American and Caribbean Games. He remained with them for the 2006 Central American and Caribbean Games.
